Golf enthusiast Dr. Monte B. Biggs is a physician with University Internal Medicine in Knoxville, Tenn., where he has practiced since 1998. He originally is from Missoula, Mont., but he graduated at the University of Tennessee for medical school and completed his residency with the University of Tennessee Medical Center. Dr. Biggs was in private practice from 1972 to 1998. He became the chief of staff at UT Hospital (now UT Medical Center) in 1982. In 1998, he joined University Internal Medicine.
He is a member of the Knoxville Academy of Medicine, Tennessee Medical Association, American Medical Association and American Society of Internal Medicine. He also has represented the Knoxville Academy of Medicine at the Knox County Board of Health for 30 years. He was awarded the London Award for Teaching. “I chose primary care as my specialty because I enjoy the long-term relationship with my patients,” Dr. Biggs says.
Dr. Biggs and his wife, Shannon, have three children: Melanie, 40; Kevin, 30; and Roddy 14. In his free time, Dr. Biggs likes to spend his free time playing golf.
